Advice and Services

We consider the individual requirements of all our clients and provide advice based on these.

Areas of Advice Covered

PERSONAL

Family Protection

It is important to ensure your family is protected against the financial consequences of your death or a critical/long term illness.

We can ensure you have the correct cover in place to ensure your family and/or business are protected including mortgage protection, income protection, business protection, critical illness cover and private medical care.

Life Assurance plans typically have no cash in value at any time and cover will cease at the end of term. If premiums stop, then cover will lapse.

Retirement Planning & Pension

Whatever age you are at its never too early, or too late, to start planning for the lifestyle you would like when you retire.

In an environment of frequently changing legislation organising your retirement expectations can be a confusing and complex task, we are here to guide you every step of the way.

We provide help and advice on all aspects of building towards retirement, including personal pensions, stakeholder pensions, SIPP's and work place pensions.

Once you get to your chosen retirement age, we can help you plan and maximise your income using flexi-access drawdown, guaranteed annuities or combination of these.

A pension is not normally accessible until 55 (57 from April 2028). Your capital is at risk. The fund value may fluctuate and can go down, which would have an impact on the level of pension benefits available.

Investment Planning

Whether you are looking to invest for income, growth, or both, we can help you make informed decisions about diverse range of investment products available to you.

Taking into account your personal circumstances, tax status, capacity for loss and attitude towards risk, we can assist you in selecting an investment strategy that is right for your own personal goals.

We advise on a broad range of investments from ISA’s, General Investment Accounts, bonds, trusts, to Inheritance Tax Planning.

Our experienced team of advisers can produce bespoke investment solutions that are suited to your requirements and objectives. There are a number of thorough procedures that we follow in order to achieve this.

Your capital is at risk. The value of your investment (and any income from them) can go down as well as up and you may not get back the full amount you invested. Investments should be considered over the longer term and should fit in with your overall attitude to risk and financial circumstances.

Tax & Estate Planning

Estate planning revolves around how you'll pass on your wealth before and after you die. It involves creating a Will and mapping out who gets what and when.

Estate planning isn't just sensible for your finances, but also for your peace of mind. It will help you feel at ease knowing that your financial affairs are taken care of in the event of your death. Plus, with a solid plan in place before you die, you can start putting plans in place to reduce your inheritance tax (IHT) bill or by passing on your wealth and reducing your inheritance tax (IHT) bill.

We can help you create a plan to pass on your wealth before you pass away. We can also help you use things like trusts and IHT rules to help you pass on your wealth tax-efficiently.

Tax rules can and do change, and sometimes it can be hard to understand how they apply to you. We can help you unravel everything and make sure you're using the rules to your advantage without stepping over the line.

The Financial Conduct Authority does not regulate Inheritance Tax Planning.

CORPORATE

Business Protection

Business protection is an insurance contract that helps protect a business from the financial effects of key people being diagnosed with a critical illness or dying.

Business protection is available for partnerships (including limited liability partnerships), shareholders, sole traders and key employees.

How the arrangement is set up will depend on the type of business and its particular needs.

Life Assurance plans typically have no cash in value at any time and cover will cease at the end of term. If premiums stop, then cover will lapse.

Retirement Planning & Pension

With the recent emphasis that has been placed on pensions and automatic enrolment, it is a particularly important time to consider and understand measures you and your employer can put in place. Here at Maple Financial, we can provide professional advice on pensions, and can translate any complicated technicalities into plain English to ensure you make the right financial choices. Having the right pension plan in place will significantly improve the enjoyment of your retirement, and our experienced team can provide you with impartial advice on all types of pension.

A pension is not normally accessible until 55 (57 from April 2028). Your capital is at risk. The fund value may fluctuate and can go down, which would have an impact on the level of pension benefits available.

Automatic Enrolment

Due to the savings gap and the lack of sufficient retirement planning, the government has introduced a scheme that will ensure at least 8% of an employee’s salary is put towards their retirement pension plan. This is funded by 5% from the employee, and 3% by the employee.

Workplace pensions are arranged by you as an employer and help your employees to save for their retirement. You as the employer place a percentage of the employee’s salary into a pension scheme, and it is now a legal requirement for employers and employees to contribute to pension schemes if:

  • Employees work in the UK
  • Are aged between 22 and state pension age
  • Earn over £10,000 a year

Workplace pensions are regulated by The Pensions Regulator

Ongoing Services

The ongoing management of any plan is the most important aspect in ensuring that the strategy continues to deliver its intended aims. Regular reviews should be conducted to assess any modifications that are required because of changes in tax legislation, risk profile or personal objectives or circumstances. These could be face to face, over the phone or via electronic media such as e-mail. Set out below are the detailed elements for the indicative levels of ongoing service that we deliver to our clients.

Strategic Wealth Management Service

Every 6 months you will be invited for a financial review, this review can be conducted face to face, by electronic media such as e-mail & teleconference or by post in the form of a portfolio report during this review. This service is for those wanting a more hands on and regular reviews.

Core Financial Planning Service

Every year clients will be invited for a full financial review, this review can be conducted face to face, by electronic media such as e-mail & teleconference or by post in the form of a portfolio report during this review.

Please note during reviews the services undertaken may differ from one review to another because not all clients' needs and objectives are alike or constant e.g. for a client retiring is likely to follow quite a different review format from one year to the next.

At a review, we typically cover:

  • Assessment of personal circumstances
  • Review of your goals & objectives
  • Reassessment of your attitude to investment risk/return & market sectors (asset allocation)
  • Review of investment performance & holdings
  • Valuations & investment commentary
  • Where appropriate, recommendations in order to keep your new / existing plans in line with your objectives
  • Provide you with a written suitability report
